The documentary “De Wereld van Carlijn” follows cartographer Carlijn Kingma throughout her creation of The Waterworks of Money – an intricate map of the financial system. “When you see the work,” writes Movies That Matter, “it’s hard to imagine why anyone would want to start something so detailed and complex.”
Fragments is proud to present “De Wereld van Carlijn” in the original Dutch with English subtitles. An audience favorite at the International Film Festival Rotterdam in 2024, the documentary is a close-up portrait of an artist’s struggle, a complex system, and a reflection on the meaning of good citizenship.
Lecturer and researcher Nanna Freeman will guide a short discussion on some key themes of the documentary, as well as on The Waterworks of Money, after the screening.
The runtime of the documentary is 92 minutes.
